So we bought this double decker bus on Ebay…

…and after sometime refurbishing it and turning it into a Playbus/Youth Community Project, we now use it on the estates around the Chapel as a drop in centre. We are also using it on Sundays for some of our kids groups. It’s a great resource that we will be developing over the next couple of years and will enable us to reach out to our community in a creative and practical way.

After School Drop In Fun Bus Club

We run weekly Fun Bus Clubs for primary school age children in Graylingwell Park and Winterbourne areas – Monday afternoons, 4:15-5:15pm.  The sessions offer the children a warm, safe and fun environment to hang out in after a busy day at school.  Sessions are offered free of charge and includes table football, PS3’s, craft, games and tuck shop.

Charles Avenue Fun Bus

Once a month, we head over to the Charles Avenue estate in Chichester and run the Fun Bus Club there in partnership with Affinity Sutton.  The plan is to run more of these clubs once we’ve secured funding and monitored usage.  Watch this space…

Big Plans For 2016

Nick Taylor,  is in charge of the project under his remit of Youth Pastor. He also drives the bus along with two volunteers, Jim and Pete (but not all at the same time!)

The bus is causing quite a stir in the community and was featured in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration Gala Procession in Chichester in June 2012.  The bus has been used by the Gardening Club at Graylingwell and at our regular After School Drop In sponsored by Affinity Sutton on the Graylingwell Estate . Over the last couple of years the bus was in action at various events around Chichester and in 2015 we will continue to develop the bus project as a resource for local communities.
