The speaker this month is Air Vice Marshal (Ret’d) Ray Pentland
Ray joined the Royal Air Force as a Chaplain, for 4 years, in 1990 just as the invasion of Kuwait was taking place. Those 4 years turned into almost 30 and a career that spanned the globe and saw him rise to the position of Chaplain-in-Chief (RAF) with the rank of Air Vice-Marshall.
He saw service in Bosnia, the Falkland Islands, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and participated in some of the most memorable national events of recent years, and it all began when he became Christian. On 27 March 2006 Ray was appointed Honorary Chaplain to the Queen and was made an Honorary Canon of Lincoln Cathedral. In the 2013 New Year Honours, he was appointed Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB). Today, among other things, Ray leads tours to WW1 & WW2 Battlefields as well as working for the RAF and the local Church.
