Immanuel away from home

Church Weekend: After missing two years due to Covid-19, in May 2022 we returned to   Dalesdown (near Horsham) for our annual church weekend.  We enjoyed spending time together in a relaxed way, with time for teaching and getting to know each other better.  We are already planning our next  church weekend in May 2023.

New Wine: for several years many members went with Immanuel to the annual New Wine gathering – until Covid-19 interrupted those plans. At the end of July 2022 our minister Paul and a group are going to the United week at Peterborough Showground.  More about New Wine

What’s different about Immanuel?

We’re a Bishop’s Mission Initiative: In 2011 the Bishop of Chichester appointed Immanuel as a Bishop’s Mission with the task of working with other churches across Chichester as a network church. We meet at Bishop Luffa School within the parish of St Wilfrid’s, but we are not limited to working within those parish boundaries. The BMO (Bishop’s Mission Order) allows us to be more flexible and informal in our services, although still broadly following the Anglican tradition.

We’re not a parish church: Immanuel Church is unusual for an Anglican church – it does not have church wardens or a PCC (Parochial Church Council) as parish churches do.  As a registered charity and company, Immanuel has a Leadership Team and a Board of Trustees, who are elected by the members, and work closely with the ministers.
