Parenting Children Course

Parenting Children Course

A five week course held at Bishop Luffa School:

Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm, starting on 15 November, and finishing on  13 December.

The course is presented by two members of Immanuel Church, who between them have many years’ experience with children – see Shane’s bio below.

Places are limited – you can book your place here.

Who is it for?

The Parenting Children Course is for parents, step-parents, parents-to-be, or carers of children aged 0-10 years, up to the end of primary school. The course is for every type of parenting situation including parenting on your own, step-parenting and parenting as a couple. The Parenting Children Course is based on Christian principles but designed for all parents and carers with or without a church background.

What can I expect?

You can relax with free refreshments and sit in small groups to meet and chat with other parents and carers.  After watching clips from the DVD there are opportunities to discuss the ideas of the parents, children and parenting experts. You can take away the course handbook to try out different ideas and approaches at home.

Who is presenting the course?

Shane Morton introduces himself: “For over thirty years, I have worked with children in West Sussex primary schools. Although now retired after seventeen years as a headteacher, I still teach part-time and tutor children in their homes. My experience helps me to recommend and deliver this course, which is based on the Christian principles that have made a real difference to my family. My wife Jacquie and I have three children, aged 18 to 23, and we are still learning!”

Who wrote the course?

The Parenting Children Course was first published in 2011 by Holy Trinity Brompton Church, London. It was developed by Nicky and Sila Lee for parents and care-givers looking for practical support to strengthen their family relationships.

What does the course aim to achieve?

Over five sessions, the course aims to help you to:

  • Build strong foundations
  • Meet our children’s needs
  • Set clear boundaries
  • Develop healthy relationships
  • Explore long-term aims for your family
