Standing for election

Leaders and trustees

Each year a proportion of the leaders and trustees stand down, and there is the opportunity for others to stand for election.  This allows for a balance of continuity and change in the life of the church.

Registered church members share the responsibility of choosing who to vote for. To be elected, every candidate must obtain at least 60% of the votes cast for that vacancy.

Voting period: since 2020 we have voted in advance of the AGM, using online voting; proxy voting is also available. This year voting is open from 6 to 20 April, before the AGM on Sunday 27 April 2025.

Interested in standing for election?

An essential part of considering whether to apply is to be aware of what is expected in the role of leader or trustee. To ensure this happens, please read the Job Description and a briefing on Immanuel Church’s governance –click on the buttons to download.

Peter Bradley, Chairman of Trustees (who oversees the whole election process) would welcome the opportunity to discuss your interest in standing for either leader or trustee posts.

Please feel free to contact Peter (-email him on petere.bradley@btopenworld.com).
