Associate Minister

About

James became Associate Minister at Immanuel on a part time basis in March 2018. He is an ordained minister in the Church of England, and he has served as parish minister in London. For over 10 years James has worked in a lead role in the South East region for the Filling Station movement for spiritual renewal. James and his wife Bethia and their three children  live in Chichester.

About

Chris joined the Immanuel ministry team in 2024 after he and his wife Debbie retired to Chichester in 2023. They moved from Ely where Chris had served as Rector of the city’s evangelical Church of England gathering, and had planted two new congregations for families and those with no church background.

Before being ordained he worked as an entrepreneur introducing a series of Californian software start-ups into Europe. Chris is currently practising as a qualified leadership coach in the charity sector. He also serves the church as a trustee.

Shane Morton

About

Shane was appointed as part-time Administrator from 1 Sep 2023. He also serves as a senior leader on the Leadership team.

He was one of the original leaders and trustees of Immanuel Church back in the 1990s.

Shane is married to Jacquie, has three children and is a retired head teacher, having previously worked as an administrator in the Civil Service.

Emma Darbyshire

Children and Youth Worker

About

Emma started as our new part-time Children and Youth worker at the beginning of January 2024. She has been part of the Immanuel church family for two years, and has been serving as a member of the Leadership team since 2023.

Emma is married to Jonny – they have two young children and live in Chichester. She has been working as a primary school teacher until taking up this post.

John Manning

Licenced Lay Minister

About

John was licenced as a Reader in Southwark Cathedral in London, in 1972. Since then, he has led services and preached in many churches, including overseas.  He has also spoken at many other events.

 John is one of the original leaders of Immanuel Church, preaching at the first service held in a member’s house.

Since August 2020 he has organised, lead and preached at the Family Service on the first Sunday of the month, at St Mary’s Church Funtington.  He has also taken several special services.

Martin Willard

Licenced Lay Minister

About

Martin has been a Reader (Licenced Lay Minister) in the Church of England now for some 28 years, having previously served as a Methodist Local Preacher for 5 years. He and his wife Penny have been members of Immanuel for nearly 8 years, following their move from Surrey to Hunston.

Following degrees in Nuclear Physics and Electronics, Martin’s work background was in the management of businesses within the high-tech arena, mostly IT and telecoms.

His hobbies include sailing and boating, and he volunteers for the RNLI as the Water Safety Officer at Selsey Lifeboat Station, seeking to reduce the risks around water for adults and children.

Martin and Penny are in the process of starting up a new Immanuel Grow Group. His aim in ministry is to make the message of the Gospel simple and acceptable.
